Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Orlando, Florida, resulting in eight victims, including two fatalities. Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith provided updates during a press briefing.
Victims and Medical Status
Six victims were transported for medical treatment, and their conditions were reported as stable. The deceased victims have been identified as a 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Suspect Arrested
A 17-year-old suspect, identified as Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, has been taken into custody. Chief Smith noted that Edgar had previously been arrested in 2023 for grand theft.
Timeline of Events
The incident began around 1:07 a.m. when officers reported shots fired at the intersection of Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue. Shortly after, a second report of shots fired was received south of Washington Street on Orange Avenue. Chief Smith emphasized that police officers did not discharge their weapons during the event.

Video Evidence Released
During the briefing, Chief Smith showed video footage capturing the chaos as crowds fled the scene and body cam footage of an officer tackling Edgar to the ground.
Additional Victims
In addition to the deceased, the other victims include:
- An 18-year-old male shot in the lower left leg.
- A 39-year-old female shot in her left hand.
- A 24-year-old female shot in her left leg.
- A 20-year-old male grazed in the head.
- A 26-year-old male shot in the right foot.
- A 19-year-old female shot in the upper back, with the bullet lodging in her cheek.
There was also a ninth victim, a 26-year-old female, who was not mentioned in the press conference; she was trampled as people attempted to escape the scene.
Charges Filed Against the Suspect
Jaylen Dwayne Edgar faces serious charges, including two counts of First-Degree Murder with a Firearm and six counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder with a Firearm, as tweeted by the Orlando Police Department on Friday afternoon.
