Breaking: Eight Suspects Arrested in San Jose as Police Target Gang Violence

San Jose police announced the arrest of eight individuals, including two juveniles, linked to gang-related violence in the area. The arrests occurred between October 15 and 17, following an extensive investigation into a series of violent crimes that date back to November of the previous year.

The crimes under investigation include assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, robbery, and illegal firearm possession. Police indicated that preliminary investigations revealed these incidents were gang-related, targeting not only rival gang members but also community members residing in the Loma Verde and Cadillac/Winchester neighborhoods.

Detectives from the Gang Investigations Unit identified the suspects and established connections to a “known violent gang.” As part of the operation, law enforcement obtained arrest and search warrants, leading to the collection of critical evidence, including live ammunition and a fully automatic submachine gun.

The adult suspects have been identified as 22-year-old Josue Castro, 26-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez, 21-year-old Daniel Romo, 20-year-old Luis Arizmendi-Bravo, 21-year-old Joe Maldonado, and 19-year-old Erick Curiel. The names of the juvenile suspects, aged 16 and 17, were withheld due to their ages.

All eight suspects are residents of San Jose. The adult suspects have been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail, while the two teenagers are being held at juvenile hall.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these cases to contact the Gang Investigation Unit at 408-277-3835.
