Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police are seeking the public’s help to identify a man involved in a stabbing incident on one of their trains.
According to BART’s official report, the suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He was last seen with black braided hair styled in a knot and sporting a mustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black jacket with an orange liner, a black shirt featuring a broad white logo, grey and black cargo-style pants, and brown and black boots. The suspect was also carrying a black duffle bag.
The altercation took place yesterday morning around 8:10 a.m. on a train bound for Antioch, near the 24th St./Mission Station. The victim, a 54-year-old woman, was stabbed in what authorities described as an unprovoked attack. BART officials responded quickly, shutting down the 24th St./Mission station to gather evidence, causing temporary disruptions for commuters from 8:40 to 9:25 a.m.
The injured woman was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. BART Police Investigations have set up an anonymous tip line for anyone with information at (510) 464-7011.
