Mountain View Football Overpowers Gateway with High-Scoring Game
Winning is always rewarding, but doing so with a season-high score makes it even sweeter, just ask Mountain View. The Mountain Lions dominated the Gateway Olympians 52-20 on the road this past Friday. With this victory marking their third win by more than 27 points this season, the blowout wasn’t a surprise.
Mountain View’s senior duo led the charge as Kc Mendoza rushed for an impressive 152 yards on just eight carries, and Jaden Saville added 103 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Mendoza’s standout performance set a new career-high for rushing yards, while Tony Schnee contributed with 55 yards and a touchdown of his own.
The Mountain Lions were unstoppable on the ground, racking up a season-high 392 rushing yards. Their defense also made an impact, forcing two fumbles thanks to Grady Cogan and Tyson Mares-Benz.
This victory extended Mountain View’s winning streak to three games, improving their season record to 4-1. Meanwhile, Gateway’s loss brought their record down to 1-4.
Mountain View will have some time to relish their win before facing Fort Morgan at home on October 11th at 7:00 p.m., aiming to continue their three-game home win streak. Gateway, on the other hand, will go up against Grand Junction at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, facing a defense that has only allowed an average of 10.2 points per game this season.
