How to Get Up to $2,500: Cash App Users Eligible for Data Breach Settlement
According to The Sun, Cash App users are eligible to claim over $2,500 as part of a $15 million class action settlement resulting from significant data and security breaches. The deadline to file claims is fast approaching on November 18, 2024, prompting consumers to act quickly by completing an online claim form.
Overview of the Settlement
Cash App, a widely used online payment service boasting approximately 56 million transacting users, has been embroiled in a legal battle over its data security practices. The settlement is designed for customers who experienced fraudulent withdrawals or transfers and who held an account between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024.
Allegations Against Cash App
The class action lawsuit alleged that Cash App and its parent company, Block (formerly known as Square), failed to implement necessary measures to prevent unauthorized access and protect user data. Furthermore, plaintiffs claimed that the company inadequately addressed customer complaints regarding security breaches and fraudulent transactions.
Although Cash App denied any wrongdoing, the settlement allows them to avoid the expenses associated with further litigation.
How to Claim Your Money
Eligible users can receive payments up to $2,500. To successfully file a claim, users must provide documentation supporting their losses related to identity theft, credit monitoring, and associated fees. Additionally, claimants can be reimbursed for lost time related to the incident, with compensation up to $65. Claims can also be made for any losses directly stemming from unauthorized access to accounts.
Important Deadline
To access these funds, users must submit their claims by November 18, 2024. More information about the settlement process can be found on the official settlement website.

Other Recent Class Action Settlements
The Cash App settlement follows a trend of class action settlements related to privacy breaches. Notably, streaming giant Tubi recently agreed to pay nearly $20 million to settle a class action lawsuit. This lawsuit accused Tubi of sharing users’ personal information with third parties without obtaining their consent, violating the Video Privacy Protection Act. While Tubi has not admitted any wrongdoing, they agreed to the settlement to resolve the issue. Class members must submit a valid claim form by November 28, 2024, to receive benefits.
Clif Bar Lawsuit
In another notable case, Clif Bar & Company faced a class action lawsuit for allegedly misleading consumers regarding the healthiness of its products. The lawsuit argued that marketing the protein bars as “nutrition for sustained energy” obscured the high sugar content in the bars, which accounts for nearly 40% of their calorie content despite claims of containing no high fructose corn syrup. Consumers who purchased an Original Clif Bar or Clif Kid ZBar in California or New York between April 2014 and March 2023 are eligible for compensation.
